Donation Drop-Offs
Give what you no longer need a second life — with respect, transparency, and purpose.
Overview
Part of thoughtful downsizing is making sure items you no longer need move on in a way that supports your values and your community. Golden Relocation coordinates donation drop-offs on your behalf, handling logistics, packaging, and drop-off or pick-up at trusted local organizations. We aim to maximize reuse and minimize waste.
Trusted Donation Partners in Our Area
These are some of the organizations we regularly coordinate with for furniture and goods donations in Los Angeles & Ventura counties:
-

-
The Salvation Army — schedule free pickup or bring items to a thrift store
-
Goodwill Southern California — drop-off locations across LA County
-
Habitat for Humanity ReStore (Greater LA) — accepts building materials and furniture donations
-
St. Vincent de Paul – Los Angeles — picks up appliances, furniture, and goods
-
Los Angeles Mission — clothing, household goods drop-off
-
Rescue Mission Alliance — donation pickup scheduling
-
Downtown Women’s Center — donation drop-off site
When we coordinate your donation, we choose the best partner based on your address, item type, and capacity.
What Can Be Donated
While each organization has its own rules, most will accept gently used items that are clean, functional, and free of major damage. Commonly accepted items include:
-
Furniture in good condition (sofas, tables, chairs, dressers)
-
Household goods (lamps, mirrors, décor, kitchenware)
-
Clean clothing, linens, towels, textiles
-
Small working appliances (microwaves, vacuum, etc.)
-
Books, DVDs, media
-
Garden furniture and patio sets (if intact)
When we coordinate donation drop-offs, we inspect each item to ensure it meets the charity’s standards — and refuse or reroute ones that don’t.
What Cannot Be Donated / What Charities Frequently Reject
Even generous organizations must turn away items that pose safety or liability risks. These commonly include:
-
Broken or heavily damaged furniture
-
Upholstery with stains, rips, or pet damage
-
Mattresses or box springs that fail health codes
-
Electronics that don’t power on or show signs of malfunction
-
Large appliances in disrepair
-
Items requiring hazardous disposal (e.g. oils, chemicals)
-
Personal items in poor condition (worn-out clothing, torn textiles)

If your item falls into these categories, we may offer to reroute it to Disposal & Clear-Outs — ensuring it’s handled responsibly and in compliance with local waste rules.
When Donation Isn’t Possible: Disposal & Clear-Outs
If an item can’t be donated, Golden Relocation ensures a dignified, responsible disposal process:
-
We schedule removal to licensed waste facilities
-
Items are sorted: reuseable parts salvaged, rest sent to landfill
-
Paperwork or manifests provided (if required)
-
We minimize environmental impact where possible
This is why we always offer a seamless “Donate or Dispose” workflow — so nothing is left stranded.
Perfect For
